IN last week’s Knutsford Guardian it was reported that the Knutsford League of Hospital Friends will be holding a fundraising event at the Knutsford Community Hospital commencing at 9.30am on October 3, 2017.

This event deserves the support of the whole town as readers may not be aware that the League has been raising funds to support health care in our town for over 40 years, continuing in the local tradition started by the townsfolk of Knutsford who raised the cash to build the recently-sold Knutsford War Memorial hospital.

The League’s most recent efforts have raised money to replace the chairs at the hospital as they are past their sell-by date, having been donated to us when Macclesfield District General Hospital got new ones.

Our new chairs will be arriving in October, and this year in addition to the pilates equipment supplied to the physiotherapy department along with ear syringing equipment given to the three GP practices.

As the prospect of the longawaited new health and wellbeing centre recedes ever further on the horizon, in order to further improve the ambience of our hospital, the League is now seeking to raise funds to replace the flooring in the reception area of the hospital.

Therefore, in collaboration with the Women’s Institute, they have decided to hold a cake sale, where supporters will also be able to buy the League’s Christmas cards.

All the League’s efforts aim at improving the environment at your hospital, so I would urge all readers to support this gallant band of volunteers in the work they do for your benefit.
