THE playing fields at the end of Higher Downs on North Downs is a green space for residents.

It was designated as such when permission was given to build houses on surrounding land in the 1970s.

Many children who have grown up in Delmar Road, North Downs and Higher Downs etc have played on those fields and children continue to do so today.

It is also a popular space for dog walkers.

I have no objection to the building of the 250 houses, it’s inevitable.

However, as a local resident I strongly object to the sale of playing fields.

May I urge local residents to write to our local councillors to oppose this sale.
