MANY of us will be very sorry to see George Osborne leave from his position as MP for Tatton.

We remember him from our first time meeting when he asked for support to become Tatton’s MP.

I for one felt that even at that time he had great charisma and would work hard for us...he did indeed do that.

We did see him spend a lot of time in and around Knutsford and quickly won respect.

He always made time to listen to people’s problems and in most cases was able to help with a solution.

It was no surprise to see George move up to Shadow Chancellor and then to Chancellor.

I have great respect for the way that he managed the work of Chancellor and MP at the same time despite the time required as an important Government member.

He was still able to make regular visits to Knutsford and achieve great results locally such as the Alderley Edge bypass, kept the Macclesfield A&E Department from closing, opening of the Link Road to Manchester and we should not forget the Northern Powerhouse project which is already proving to be a huge success for exports from the region and has already started to bring benefits to Knutsford.

Most of us can manage one job, but it demands huge commitments to hold down two.

George Osborne has dedicated a big part of his time to Tatton and indeed to his country and for that he deserved our thanks and best wishes.

I wish him well for the future and good luck with his new ventures, hopefully the “for now” will pass soon and that we see him back in Government and who knows even back to Knutsford (hopefully for May Day.) Well done George.
