I HAVE lived on Cranford Avenue for the last two years.

Every morning between 10am and 11am I take my dog for a walk around the area.

There are regular works being undertaken by a variety of companies.

Without exception the ‘workmen’ are not working at all during the majority of these times.

They are either in the cabs of their vehicles drinking, eating or reading tabloid newspapers.

Alternatively they are standing around smoking, chatting or watching things on their ‘phones.

I have spoken to the perpetrators on several occasions only to be given short shrift or poo-pooed.

This attitude never existed in ‘the old days’ when the mantra ‘an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay’ made us proud of ourselves.

No hope for any improvement I suppose.
