I MUST agree with the ex-chancellor on two statements that he has made. Firstly his work in the constituency would continue unaffected.

It would not matter if he takes his latest job as editor of the London Evening Standard or not, he is already by his own admission a Londoner and in my view completely out of touch with his constituents.

But what does matter is the conflict of interests and the harm this will do to Parliament and his Party.

Secondly, he said in the House of Commons that the constituents in Tatton will decide. I totally agree with that statement. Surely we must now have a by-election and allow that to be the case.

I look forward to Mr Osborne standing for re-election if he chooses not to stand down at the earliest possible time.
