I’M sure I’m not alone amongst Knutsford residents in being deeply disappointed by the latest news regarding the choice of site for the proposed new Knutsford Health Centre.

As this was not envisaged many years ago, when the old hospital site was sold off, a really large piece of land was lost then which could have been ideal.

As it is, the proposed plan will no doubt now include expensive destruction of several relatively modern buildings, plus the building of a new one.

This will still leave only a small footprint of land.

And where, pray, is everyone going to park?

Although the new site is fairly central to the town and not too far from the bus station, nevertheless the car park for this will need to take the staff from the three present medical centres, plus all of the patients, constantly coming and going.

Are they going to park on the roof ? There is already very limited parking in the road, on Bexton Road.

This is often full already of patients going to the Knutsford clinic, which has only a small car park - how many more will there be?

I would warn all those living within half a mile of this development, such as Cranford Avenue, Bexton Road, St John’s Road etc to put their houses on the market right now, as their properties will be worth considerably less once the whole area is completely jammed with cars, which it certainly will be if this all goes ahead.

The idea that elderly people will park in Booths car park and walk from there is very naïve indeed.

This is ill-thought out and will not add at all to the amenities or to the attractiveness of our town. It will cause endless problems of congestion and stress to residents in the area. George Osborne is in favour of it all, of course, because he does not and never has lived her.

Let’s hope the money can never be found for this badly planned scheme.
