WE have visited Tatton Park frequently over many years and attended many memorable events there.

Regretfully, over the past few months, we have started avoiding the park as much as possible because of irresponsible dog walkers.

Many of them seem to assume that because they love their dogs, then everyone else should too.

I have had enough of dogs, both big and small, smelling, licking, barking loudly, rubbing against and jumping up on me and my family, which includes young children.

Clothes get wet and dirty in the process, and worse still it causes unnecessary distress.

Often times their owners don’t care, or worse still are totally unaware of what their dogs are up to.

The adjacent Dog Wood, being a confined area, is a particular problem, especially at busy times.

Also it’s not very pleasant having to avoid dog faeces, a potential health hazard, which has been left behind, and full poo bags which have been abandoned.

Some of these dogs arrive in the park by car but many are walked in.

Their owners don’t contribute very much financially towards supporting the park.

To make Tatton Park a pleasanter experience for non-dog accompanied visitors I suggest that dogs be banned completely on certain days of the week, e.g.

Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Furthermore, dogs could be confined to certain areas of the park and most importantly of all, they should be kept on leads at all times.

We have no plans to return to Tatton Park in the near future because of inconsiderate dog walkers.
