AS we have come to realise the British Red Cross is a hard-nosed business, run by highly paid executives always on the lookout for money making opportunities to fund their work.

To which end they are currently hoping to sell our former Knutsford War Memorial Hospital as a business development opportunity.

The charity already receives millions for paid services to the NHS and local councils for health and social care, yet they are apparently still concerned about on-going inadequacies in the services.

While the Knutsford War Memorial Hospital, may be unsuitable as a modern hospital, it could be used for much-needed social care.

Indeed it is apposite to ask why when the problem was already acute, much to everyone’s dismay, such facilities which were provided at the Knutsford War Memorial Hospital under the auspices of the British Red Cross were discontinued?
