I AM writing about the field on Ashworth Park - right next to our house.

We have lived here for more than 30 years now and have never seen a time when the field has not been very wet and boggy.

As someone said, there was a pond there at some time.

I have written to Adam (at the town council) via email but have not received a reply.

I did mention to him how unsuitable the field is really for a play area.

We have no objections to having one there but can not think it would be suitable at all.

Why waste all that money on the wrong plot?

The view you show of it looks as if there would not be a problem at all but there are two huge trees on there and the leaves are still on the field now.

There is the huge pylon to one side which is not good for children to play near.

We also in the better months have some silly person who decides to drive over it to their home .

I think their car got stuck at some point because the field was all churned up.

I understand the need for small play areas - not zip wires as the council mentioned, but we have to be sensible about this.

There has to be a reason the builders left these grassed areas free when our houses were built.

A pond was on one side and a lake the other they said, no idea what they did with the lake but the pond often resurfaces when the weather is very wet.

I know a lot about the soggy ground because my garden is often very wet and as it’s clay underneath it takes forever to drain away sadly.

If they did decide to go ahead with putting a play area there there would have to be a lot of maintenance to keep it useable I think.

A good idea but not thought out too well to be honest.
