AS a member of the Green Party I have been out this week meeting people in Agden near Little Bollington.

Overwhelmingly I was met with the obvious concerns of the HS2 issue.

At a time when our NHS is reported to be in crisis it struck me that our MP is far more interested in his pet project the ‘Northern Power Trip’ and getting paid for speaking to his business friends in America than actually representing his constituents.

I have met farmers who face losing their farms after generations of hard work and tradition.

Home owners dismayed at having their homes taken from them or their environment shattered.

I would not want to raise false hope to those who live with that threat – but it is not yet a ‘done deal’.

Over the term of this parliament and the next, three Hybrid Bills will have to be successfully completed before HS2 can be completed.

As much as it could be considered a waste of time to petition George Osborne, I will be contacting Green Party members throughout the country and would encourage all affected to contact friends and family to lobby their MPs to respect the views of their constituents.

Let us see how these MPs vote in the HS2 bills before they vote next time.
