I AM a regular visitor to Tatton Park and over the years I have noticed an improvement in the amount of litter and dog waste left on the ground.

This must be due in part to the litter bins situated at the various car parking areas and popular picnic sites.

I was surprised when I visited last weekend to see that most of the litter bins have been removed and Tatton is now asking visitors to take their rubbish home.

They must have more faith in human nature than I have if they think everyone will willingly carry home their empty drink cartons and food wrappers and bags of dog poo.

The way to encourage people to keep the park tidy is to provide the facilities for doing so.

It now costs £6 to drive into the park so surely they can afford to use some of this money to make sure there are waste bins where the cars park and alongside the lake where people walk.

If not, I suspect it won’t be long before we start seeing coffee cups and food wrappers on the ground and bags of dog waste dotted around.
