GEORGE Osborne’s recent pious statements about his commitment to Tatton have been received with disbelief by constituents in Knutsford and Wilmslow, as both his “Tatton” and “twitter” websites indicate how seldom he visits the constituency.

Furthermore even when he does visit his schedules are fully booked beforehand, and while he does always seem to find time to visit schools, holding no surgeries means that his adult constituents are denied their constitutional rights to discuss matters of concern with their parliamentary representative.

Indeed his taking Tatton for granted attitude was demonstrated all too clearly during the run up to the recent referendum.

For while he found time to hurtle around the UK drumming up support for the “remain” campaign, he seemingly did not feel it necessary to visit Tatton and voters consequently failed to heed his dire warnings and voted to leave the EU.

Surely therefore it is not unreasonable to want to be represented by an MP for whom constituency matters really are at the top of his agenda?
