I REFER to the letter from Mr T W R Gore of June 1, entitled Peace is the Key. Bill is right.

Europe has suffered in two World Wars during the past century and, therefore peace is central to our philosophy. As he points out, the spin-off by setting up the EEC in 1958, has served a vital purpose in this respect.

Unfortunately, the so-called progression of the EEC into the EU by the Treaty of Maastricht in 1992 has now resulted in a crumbling edifice of dysfunctional bureaucracy.

When voting in the June referendum we must look to the future, take back our sovereignty and control our borders, and our laws; we must not be bogged down by the past. David Cameron’s recent insulting assertion that we are incapable of prospering by leaving the EU is nonsense.

Does he think that British people are incompetent?
