MATTHEW Mooney and Mark Boa are 100 per cent correct in regard to the pothole problem in our roads and pavements.

It is poor workmanship that is causing the problems, but I blame councillors and officials; they are the people who are allowing it to happen.

I complained to Cheshire East Highways on April 25 about the lumpy and potholed section of Stanley Road outside the bus station.

They informed me that the problem had been solved on Tuesday.

No, it wasn’t and hasn’t.

I phoned, complained, and was passed to the complaints dept at the council, where I was informed about ‘three working days’, for this, ‘10 working days’, for that.

In other words, it seems unlikely that anything will be done.

I know that Knutsford is not alone with the pothole problem in our roads, as we seem to have degenerated into a third class nation road-wise.

On a local level however, it’s up to those in charge to ensure that a good job is done in the first place.

Are you listening councillors? It’s time you started banging your fists on the table.
