I WOULD like to offer sincere thanks from myself and members of Brook Street Chapel, Knutsford, to an anonymous lady who rang me to say that she had found an opened letter with a cheque enclosed for a children’s charity as she was walking home.
She had noticed that the cheque was sent from the chapel and found my telephone number so she could let me know what had happened.
I can only think that when the postman emptied the box, as the cheque had definitely been posted, somehow the envelope may have fallen on to the ground instead of in his sack and blown along the road, perhaps someone found it and opened the envelope, then threw it away.
The kind lady offered to get a new envelope, readdress it and pay for a stamp so that the donation could go to the charity.
Thank you to the anonymous lady and to all people who do so many little acts of kindness.
Rev Jean Bradley
