CHESHIRE East Council has come bowling into the New Year with another uncaring, unprofessional tick box consultation for Knutsford.

This time it wants to ‘de-designate’ Knutsford Children’s Centre as a Surestart centre.

So Knutsford will have its services and building axed because we can be relied upon not to kick up a fuss.

I ask caring, fair-minded people in Knutsford to take the council to task by filling in the very short online survey with two key points under section 2 Comment box.

1) An impact assessment of each individual centre in Cheshire East should be undertaken with reference to the possible other service providers and any other building venue clearly identified.

Following an informed collection of the facts then options should be put forward for consultation.

2) State that there is very little, if any capacity in the existing Knutsford public buildings.

Cheshire East Council is an arrogant organisation that claims to put residents first when in fact it doesn’t know how to engage fairly with us.

I could quote the Bexton Court and Tatton ward at the Community hospital and Hollins View social respite care and the Millennium community centre at St Johns Wood school as examples.

We are still waiting for the Knutsford schools ‘consultation'.

Come on Knutsford – stand up for something.

Otherwise we will be expected to pay for everything and everywhere else. For children’s centre consultation see Cheshire East Council website or call into the Knutsford Surestart centre next to Manor Park Primary school.
