I FOUND the story about the public toilets in Knutsford making less money than expected one of the least surprising of the year.

When Knutsford Town Council took over the toilets I was surprised they were so optimistic that they could multiply an estimate of the number of uses by 20p to get a figure for the amount of revenue they expected to take.

Public toilet usage always seems to go down when charges are introduced and the lack of machines providing change near the toilet entrances will likely mean some people who would use them are unable to do so as they don’t have the right coins to do so.

Whenever I walked past either set of toilets when they were free it was very common to see people going in and out now seeing anyone using them is very rare so I think the town council and Danfo are barking up the wrong tree by saying revenue is lower than expected because people are getting in for free by the lock being twisted.

I wonder if the real reason is the town centre getting less visitors from other towns due to how unsafe it is becoming for pedestrians.
