TODAY (Wednesday) at around 4pm Friends of the Moor and Cheshire East Council ANSA parks team are going to raise the green flag that has been awarded for the seventh year running to The Moor in Knutsford.

This combination of council and local residents has been in place for 10 years working together on plans for the maintenance and development of the Moor.

The partnership has also benefited from key personnel being involved throughout.

Kathy Swindells from ANSA, Cheshire East Council was responsible for the Moor management and green flag application throughout the decade.

We are delighted she has agreed to raise this year’s flag, alongside colleague Marianne Hodgkinson who has been key to the new play equipment, and colleagues from the grounds team that keep the area beautifully maintained.

However, this is not only about the past, it is also about the future.

There is a huge challenge ahead to maintain the Moor to the standards we have set out, plus to secure funding for any new features. Knutsford Town Council will be asked to provide more resources.

The friends group has agreed to explore new seating and signage and will use the results of their consultation last year to plan further additions to the play area, plus identify other features that could be included elsewhere.

It is hoped a masterplan for the Moor could be agreed that will set the objectives for the next 10 years.

Anyone with any ideas is welcome to join the friends group at one of its monthly meetings held on the second Wednesday evening of each month.
