IT WAS interesting to head down to Silk Mill Street on Sunday to try and understand more regarding the proposals for King Street.
There I was speaking to the gang from Cheshire East Council who were polite and courteous while I asked questions about the plans for the street.
It is important that in whatever happens to the road, that the heritage of it remains.
And when I talk about heritage, I mean the cobbles.
Surely these should be on show?
Yes, they are currently covered by asphalt – well in some places – but wouldn’t it be great to see them used in the new design?
I understand one proposal will mean that the existing cobbles are left – but tarmacked over.
While another proposal involves new blocks, which would result in the old ones being taken away.
How can that be preserving the town’s heritage?
Surely the cobbles should be kept and shown off to residents and visitors alike?
