I MAKE no secret of the fact that I am an anti-incineration campaigner. I know many share my views and for others, living in close proximity to a colossal waste incinerator would not be an issue.

Many new houses are being built in Lostock and Rudheath and I was angry to find out many potential buyers had no idea that TATA Imperial Chemicals have been granted planning permission to build a 600,000 tonnes waste incinerator not a stone’s throw away from these developments.

I assume solicitors acting on behalf of potential buyers would discover and disclose this when undertaking a search on behalf of their clients, but I don’t know if the onus would be on them.

Perhaps someone knows the answer to this question?

Surely it would be so much better for purchasers to be made aware of these facts from the outset, before the 'dream home' is chosen and the buying process begins?

We would expect nothing less than openness and transparency from CWAC and TATA in all their dealings over the future plans for the waste incinerator, and for information to be in the public domain and the opportunity to make an informed decision.

The choice to buy a house is yours and that is how it should be.
