THE Cheshire Area for Cheshire Action petition aims to give day and overnight respite, intermediate and dementia care and assessment facilities, to serve public need in local areas and in public hands.

With 2,500 signatures to hand already, I would like to thank all of those people who have so generously agreed to keep the petitions in view for public signing.

For the number of individuals who have chosen to collect signatures, the forms need to be posted back the end of this week: Charlotte, Holly House, Middlewich Road, Allostock, Knutsford. WA16 9JX Only 180 signatures have been gathered online. Possibly a nationally-based petition about these services is now necessary.

Ultimately, the end result will be a pretty fair indication of public will, which should be listened to.

After this petition was launched, the removal of my husband into the wrong ward of Macclesfield Hospital, which does not suit his needs, has certainly pointed up for the needs expressed more generally in the petition. Macclesfield Hospital is full.

There is nowhere else to put people.

I understand the hospital is half full with dementia patients.

I will be in touch with the final numbers and to state the arrangements made to deliver the petition.
