I AM writing regarding one of the photographs in last week's issue.

It is the one by David Flett of the ladybirds.

It is a good photo, but the ladybirds are not the usual ones found in the UK.

The ladybird in the photo is the harlequin ladybird of which there are three colour variations and they are invading the UK.

Some of the scientific bodies are asking for sightings as they are a threat to the normal ladybirds, they do not hibernate as normal but remain active.

I recognised them is because I was invaded by them at my house.

Every time I opened a window they were coming in in numbers, and they looked different so I looked them up on the internet and found out that they were an invasive species.
