I MUST comment on the two items regarding our local hospital and its services, Guardian, October 1.

It appears the recent Human Resources and Organisational Development award by the NHS to East Cheshire NHS Trust is yet another self-congratulatory idea.

How does removing a successful Intermediate Care Ward, without even so much as a vote, and spending a lot of money on removing distant commercial respite placements from family carers, amount to improvement?

We are already left to travel to Warrington, Wythenshawe, Stockport, and further to access services.

Knutsford, which is soon to have many more homes built around its perimeter, has been under threat of losing even the daytime only services at the largely wasted cottage hospital.

East Cheshire NHS Trust has decided to charge £2.20 parking per two hours. With numbers of people from the local country area using the blood and other services, this means that every local road will grind to a standstill, with emergency services unable to pass.

Where was the consultation on this? Has the Board of East Cheshire NHS Trust considered the public service element at all?

Is it the Board’s wish that patients will attend our already overloaded GP surgeries instead?

Perhaps the next Board meeting can be in Knutsford, so Board members can explain the reason for this latest let-down?
