SOME of the comments that have been made about the Mobberley Road roadworks by both the council and readers are incorrect, Guardian, October 8.

The letters did not go to all houses affected.

Houses such as those on Kestrel Avenue received them but those on Shaw Drive did not.

Presumably, the expectation was people from Shaw Drive could always drive around the roadworks, which didn’t prove to be the case due to the workers not sticking to the original plan of only one-eighth of the road being closed per day.

The letters were only delivered a few days before the roadworks started.

Someone could have been away for a few days to return home and find they couldn’t access their house because of the road closure.

One letter was received per address, even when the address is a business on Parkgate Lane employing a number of people.

Were the businesses supposed to organise a bus service to transport their employees who needed or wanted to leave the premises during the day so there was only one vehicle per address?

Finally, the comment made about HGVs that shouldn’t have been in the area doesn’t make sense.

How are Spar for instance, supposed to get their delivery lorry between the Esso petrol station on Toft Road and the BP one on Mobberley Road if most of Mobberley Road is closed and they aren’t allowed to use Manor Park or Shaw Drive?

Yes, I agree with the comment that the work needed doing.

But the workers worked to a different plan than was communicated to residents and businesses, and the plan should have been communicated to residents and businesses weeks earlier.
