HAVE the East Cheshire NHS Trust taken leave of their senses at proposing the new parking charges? I can predict there will be plenty of space in the car park after April because no-one will pay to park there.

People will inevitably park on the surrounding streets instead, adding to the local congestion and the inconvenience for local residents.

The car park is currently only really congested between 8.30am and 10.30am during the time of blood tests.

Because of the blood test nurses’ efficiency, you are rarely waiting more than half an hour, so who will be willing to pay the £2.20 minimum charge for up to two hours?

Booths only charge 80p for up to two hours, and for those who prefer to park off street, it’s not a long walk from their car park to the hospital.

The only folk really affected will be those of limited mobility, but without a disabled badge, the rest of us will merely be inconvenienced.

Can I strongly suggest East Cheshire NHS Trust review this decision, think about its wider impacts on the community and reflect on how unlikely they will be to achieve their intended revenue targets.

It’s worth remembering that the M6 Toll has never come close to hitting its expected revenue targets due to over-pricing.
