THIS morning I was trying to get from Shaw Drive to Legh Road via Mobberley Road, so I could get to my business in Northwich via Plumley, to avoid the road works. They had blocked off all the roads in and out.

After negotiating with the contractors they agreed to remove bollards leading to Chelford Road as traffic was blocked every which way, with many irate motorists caught in the mess.

I asked one of the contractors if they had looked at a map, to which they replied that they didn’t have one.

I therefore asked the contractor, how you can just shut a road off without knowing if there were other exits?

The contractor replied: “I don't know, we are just told to block off sections”.

They had no idea that they had in-effect blocked all exits, stopping all traffic moving in or out.

Cheshire East Council really hasn’t thought this through, or indeed supervised this in anyway.

What happened to the traffic management; there isn’t any. We could see no diversion signs or anybody with any idea, only the really helpful “road closed”.

Neither I, nor my neighbours have had any information put through our letterboxes, so for me and hundreds of others this is a complete shambles.

I just hope that there is not a serious fire or anyone is taken ill and requires a paramedic or an ambulance.

Why didn’t they do it at night or after 6pm when the roads are quiet and there would be little or no issues getting in and out of the town?
