THE letter in last week's Guardian regarding the depressingly neglected look of both the former Tatton Ward and Bexton Court reminded me that it is now over six years ago that the Cheshire East Primary Care Trust told us it was initiating plans for a new health and wellbeing centre in Knutsford as, like it or not, change was inevitable as the option to do nothing was not on the table.

Although at the time most people were happy with the status quo, consultation panels were formed, studies undertaken, sites proposed and rejected, exhibitions held and reports published.

Despite it all, in the years which have followed, all that we have witnessed is the closure of the services formerly provided at Tatton Ward and Bexton Court and no news of a new health and wellbeing centre.

It seems that everything is in the hands of a mysterious Knutsford Programme Board, though few details are known about who sits on the board and when and where it meets.

Endeavouring to find out more is met with the usual politico-speak indicating that we, the potential service users, are not to be allowed to know anything, as responsibility for building the new centre is unclear.

Surely we have been patient enough.

And isn't it about time that we were told if or when we are likely to hear news of the long-awaited health and wellbeing centre?
