CHESHIRE East Local Plan Examination in Public (EiP) hearings start at 10am on September 16, at Macclesfield Town Hall.

The hearing on Knutsford is due to be at 10am on October 23.

Key policies affecting our town will be discussed before then.

They might be interpreted as the scale and location of development to 2030 and beyond.

For many people, elected councillors, of CEC or Knutsford Town council, seem to have got it right in proposing and supporting an additional 10 hectares of employment land at Parkgate East and Booths Park and 650 new homes.

Let’s remember the stakes.

Tatton Estate proposes at least 24 hectares of employment land and new homes.

Consultants suggest a Greater Knutsford extending up to five miles from the town centre.

Tatton Estate also proposes a huge new Cheshire Gateway logistics site at Bowdon roundabout, in the green belt, one motorway junction from the five million sq ft being built at Airport City.

Landowners and developers have submitted other proposals.

Many answers will be determined by the EiP.
