I READ that the proposed outdoor cinema plan on the Heath has been scrapped, Guardian, July 23, as was the planned six week long Christmas market.

Good!

Who on earth is it that dreams up these ridiculous ideas anyway?

Knutsford is a small, pretty market town in the heart of beautiful Cheshire countryside, and as such is well served by numerous community events throughout the year which attract great numbers of visitors.

Annually on the Heath we have the Royal May Day and attendant fun-fair with brilliant firework display, and often a circus comes to town for a week.

We have a well organised and much appreciated Literary Festival as well as the Lions Street Fair in June, the Knutsford Promenades and numerous other events hosted by other organisations in town.

In addition we have the monthly Artisan Market, the wonderful Christmas Lights Switch-on with the weekend Christmas Market, and when the RHS Flower Show comes to Tatton Park, the town centre is adorned with beautiful flower baskets and displays for all to enjoy.

For children there is the lovely new play area on The Moor with, like the Heath, plenty of open space for picnics or simply to enjoy the fresh air.

I think we can safely say that we are very well catered for with something for everyone going on right throughout the year.

Knutsford is just fine as it is so whoever and wherever you are dreaming up the next silly idea stop now and please leave us alone.
