AS a Bexton Road home owner, I am compelled to write that in the Yorston Lodge area, it is not speed that is the ‘danger to children’ issue but it is the parents themselves.

They park wherever they can to get as near as possible to the school gates, regardless of the chaos this causes every morning and afternoon.

Some don’t even switch off their engines, but simply open the passenger door to let their children out.

Others park on Bexton Road so that no traffic can flow until they return to their cars.

I can’t comment on the area near Egerton, but not sure how the cars can be going so fast as it’s usually a stationary traffic jam at school times.

The solution to the ‘accident waiting to happen’ problem is for Bexton Road to be made residents parking only and for the parents to either walk or park in Booth's to ensure their children get safely to school.

Not sure why we should have the road we live on made a 20mph zone when we haven’t witnessed a speeding problem in the six years we have lived here; just very careless parent drivers.

As I have written before, we have had our parked cars reversed into and scratched on numerous occasions, but no-one seems interested in the residents.

Also interested to know why there is such careful monitoring of traffic at Bexton Primary School but again no interest at all in the Yorston Lodge hot spot situation.
