I READ Clr Olivia Hunter’s letter, Guardian, March 26, with interest as she refers to being phoned the day before the planning meeting which discussed the BeWILDerwood application.

I was the person who phoned her as I’d heard she was going to speak in favour of the application and simply wanted to express to one of my elected representatives that not everyone was in favour of the theme park.

I’ve emailed all three of my borough councillors about this application over the past two years. Both Clrs Gardiner and Raynes have responded and we have had perfectly reasonable discussions even though our views differed.

Clr Hunter has never replied to my emails so, in a final attempt to put an alternative view to her, I phoned her. I’ve always assumed elected representatives are there to listen to all views.

I was in no way threatening or derogatory and did not advise her ‘to think twice before speaking in support of BeWILDerwood’. In the letter, Clr Hunter’s next sentence implies I was trying to bully her.

I have absolutely no influence in the town so what can I possibly threaten her with? I’m just a Knutsford resident and businesswoman who has lived in the town for more than 25 years.

Clr Hunter’s main support for the theme park seemed to rest on visits she had made to the one in Norfolk. BeWILDerwood is a theme park. It has a theme and will ruin 125 acres of Tatton Park’s precious environment. I don’t think people realise just how big a development this is – Chester Zoo, by comparison covers 111 acres.

I want to see our town thrive both economically and as a community which is why I volunteer at Knutsford Heritage Centre, am involved in the running of the Knutsford Promenades, the Knutsford Hosts and the Knutsfoodies scheme among others.
