JUST when you thought it could get no worse, it does.
Clr Jones, leader of Cheshire East Council, proudly stated in an official press release (that is still on the council website) that ‘the people of Cheshire East have our assurance that there won’t be any fracking in our borough’.
Within 24 hours he had to withdraw the pledge in a television interview because, anybody with an ounce of knowledge about how local Government works knew it was a promise that could not possibly be kept. Now he goes on local radio and says he never made the promise in the first place!
If it was not so serious it would be laughable.
