Disruption could close my business
10:36am Thursday 14th March 2013 in Letters
HAVING read the article on page two of the Knutsford Guardian of a local businesses concerns of a downturn in trade resulting from the major roadworks affecting routes of access into and out of Knutsford, I can only empathise.
My business, Knutsford Ironing and Laundry Service, is located on Mobberley Road at the junction of Chelford Road, opposite the Legh Arms pub, and all day long we stare out at at a queue of standing traffic, posing a huge challenge to those customers who frequented the shop.
The shop is uncharacteristically stocked high with customers’ uncollected items, and I would estimate a 40 per cent downturn in business from the months prior to the start of the roadworks.
I wasn’t notified from the local valuation office of the roadworks or of any recompense I could be eligible for.
I will now be taking this further, as to attempt to sustain another eight weeks of this disruption could mean an end to the business I have worked so hard at making a success.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
