It is costing us billions

4:22pm Wednesday 24th February 2010

DESPITE the absolutely dire state of Britain today, it’s going to be extremely difficult for any political party to oust Labour at the forthcoming elections.

What efforts is the airport really making to compensate the residents?

12:40pm Tuesday 23rd February 2010

I WONDER how many Mobberley and Knutsford residents, were as astonished as I was after reading the article referring to the potential payment of compensation from Manchester Airport to local residents?

The doormat will now be consigned to the wheelie bin

12:30pm Monday 22nd February 2010

I AM writing with regard to the ‘offending’ doormat outside my granddaughters flat at Gaskell Rise.

Eat your heart out, Strictly Come Dancing

12:50pm Friday 19th February 2010

CONGRATULATIONS to the Knutsford Lions for yet another super show on February 7. The show was much enjoyed by everyone, and thank you so much from all of us. Strictly Come Dancing eat your heart out.

Playground should have been on upper field

12:30pm Friday 19th February 2010

I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with the comments made by Malcolm Downs in the Guardian, February 10 that the new playground at Longridge has been put in the wrong place.

Broken Britain claim is scaremongering

12:20pm Thursday 18th February 2010

12:35pm Wednesday 17th February 2010

THE excellent plans by the Government for free health care for the elderly are obviously a vote winner.

View promise with scepticism

12:28pm Wednesday 17th February 2010

HERE we go again, just as the chief executive at Manchester Airport is about to retire and is hardly in a position to offer anyone anything, we hear murmurs that residents affected by the creation of the second runway may get compensation for loss of property values, noise disturbance etc.

Some of us take a more realistic view

11:20am Tuesday 16th February 2010

THERE is something almost endearing about George McCaig’s naive faith in the incorruptible benevolence of our state authority and its multi-various agencies towards its citizens. Some of us, however, take a more realistic view of the risks involved in providing the rich and powerful with the means of exercising ever greater control over our lives.

Professionalism of the hospital staff

11:20am Monday 15th February 2010

IN common with a lot of other people, not all of my age group, I found myself at the Accident & Emergency department at Macclesfield Hospital, together with a lot of other unfortunates. They too had sustained injuries as a result of falls and tumbles during the recent bad weather.
