AFTER 40 years of cars crashing through his front lawn Peter Crawford has had enough.

The Ashley farmer estimates more than 200 cars have crashed into his property in that time, which is a remarkable statistic.

Ashley does have a problem and that is that it is used by commuters as a rat run if there is an incident on the A556 or M56.

Cutting through the country lanes to get to Hale or junction six of the M56 is a popular route for many.

Peter loves living in Ashley but he needs help. Hopefully the highways department at Cheshire East can provide some.

The Guardian has again teamed up with Knutsford firm Equilibrium Asset Management to launch our ‘Community Hero of the Year’ awards.

We’ve had some great entries over the past two years – with two deserved winners in Kane Gunter and Val Bryant. Now we want readers to suggest heroes for this year.

There are so many Knutsfordians who are doing great things in our community and we want to hear what they have been up to.
