Katy Perry and John Mayer showed their romance is still going strong as they donned 'his and hers' outfits for the pop star's birthday party.

The Firework singer threw a fancy dress bash in Los Angeles to mark her 28th birthday, which is later this week, and chose to dress as a sexy vampire while singer-songwriter John dressed up as a vampire hunter, according to US reports.

Katy and John - who are thought to have been dating since this summer - were joined by a host of celeb pals, including Twilight actress Kristen Stewart and How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris.

It has previously been reported that Katy wanted a big party for her 28th, particularly as it falls around what would have been her second wedding anniversary with Russell Brand.

The star tied the knot with the British comedian in India on October 23 but they split after 14 months and she has apparently been "dreading" the anniversary of their big day, two days before her birthday.

A source told The Sun earlier this month that Katy had been trying to think of ways to "turn it into something positive".
