Britney Spears has admitted it's hard for her to "be like Kim Kardashian" and look red carpet ready every time she leaves the house.

The Toxic singer and US X Factor judge insisted getting primped and preened doesn't come naturally to her, reported People.

The 30-year-old told Elle: "I love my jeans and my sweats - I'm really just a tomboy at heart. So it's really hard for me to be like Kim Kardashian and be make-up and hair ready every time I go out of my house. I'm not a believer in that, you know?"

Britney, who has two sons from her previous relationship with Kevin Federline, also revealed she doesn't pay attention to gossip about her these days.

The star, who is now engaged to her former agent Jason Trawick, said: "I guess I've been under the microscope so long that I don't even pay attention to the nonsense any more. I gave up getting upset about things people make up about me a long time ago."

Britney's upcoming marriage to Jason will be her third, following her previous union with Kevin and her brief marriage to childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004, which was annulled after 55 hours.
