Tom Cruise has revealed how he tried to push himself to the limit in sci-fi thriller Edge Of Tomorrow.
The Hollywood actor did his own stunts in Doug Liman's big-screen adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka's Japanese novel All You Need Is Kill, where he played advertising executive William Cage.
"We wanted to make it entertaining and fun for an audience, and funny. I love character comedy and this, for me, is like Wile E Coyote," he told The Daily Show's host Jon Stewart.
"I kept telling the stunt guys, 'You've got to throw me against the wall harder. And they did, and then I said, 'That's hard enough. That was good'."
Tom said he has sneaked into cinemas to check out audiences' feedback to his movies.
"Sometimes we go and check out theatres and stuff like that," he said.
"That's an exciting time. I've seen the film so many times and it's that point where you're excited for audiences to finally see and experience it. That's wonderful because I make it for them."
Emily Blunt, Brendan Gleeson and Bill Paxton also star in Edge Of Tomorrow, which is in cinemas now. The Daily Show airs tonight (June 6) at 11pm on Comedy Central Extra.
