Robert De Niro has revealed that his father's artwork has remained unchanged.

The Oscar-winning actor, who has paid a tribute to his late artist father Robert De Niro Sr with a TV documentary, said he hasn't moved or tweaked any of his paintings in his New York restaurant or hotel.

"The menus are the same, everything's the same but never changed. It's there for me eternally," he told The Daily Show's host Jon Stewart.

The Godfather star revealed he wanted to show off his dad's works in his ventures including the Nobu and TriBeCa Grill, The Greenwich Hotel and the hotel's restaurant, Locanda Verde.

"I said, 'I want to show my father's work. It should be seen'. I have these restaurants, I have the hotel, these places to put them in," he explained.

"I asked him to do the menu for the Grill and he did it. I didn't think he'd want to because he's very particular. I asked him if he would put some paintings up and he did - he hung them himself."

The 70-year-old actor added: " I was surprised to hear that he would go every week or two and sit with his friends in the booths at the back. He was proud of what there was there. I was happy to hear that especially with his passing away."

Robert said his father was "proud" of his success: "He might have felt from time to time he wished he had some success, but he was always a loving father."

Remembering The Artist: Robert De Niro Sr, to be shown on HBO on June 9, will showcase his artwork and shed light on his legacy, as well as his conflicted emotions about his sexuality.

The Daily Show airs on Comedy Central Extra tonight (June 3) at 00.40am.
