Morrissey called off an appearance on a US late-night talk show after refusing to share the stage with the cast of reality series Duck Dynasty.

The 53-year-old former Smiths frontman, an animal rights campaigner, said he cancelled his appearance on ABC TV's Jimmy Kimmel Live because he could not perform on a show with people who "amount to animal serial killers".

A&E's Duck Dynasty TV show follows the Robertson family of Louisiana and its business selling duck calls and decoys.

A&E did not immediately respond to requests for comment from it and the Robertson family.

A person familiar with the Kimmel show's plans confirmed that Morrissey would appear but his performance would be rescheduled.

ABC said the Churchill band would perform on Kimmel's show but declined to comment on the switch.
