Former Doctor Who star David Tennant has revealed that he was "excited" at the prospect of becoming a father for the third time.

The Scottish actor, 41, confirmed on The Jonathan Ross Show that his wife Georgia Moffett was pregnant with the couple's second child.

"It's lovely, very lovely. It's exciting," he said to Ross.

Tennant - best known for being the 10th incarnation of the Doctor from 2005 to 2010 - appeared on the ITV1 show to promote his role in new BBC drama Spies Of Warsaw.

The actor and Moffett, who married in December 2011, are already parents to one-year-old daughter Olive, and he adopted her son Tyler, now ten, in 2011.

The couple remains private about their personal life, preferring not to talk about their relationship.
