Daniel Craig stars as 007 in Skyfall, the most successful Bond movie of all time
Skyfall has become the third film of 2012 to make one billion US dollars worldwide.
Daniel Craig's third turn as Bond reached the one billion dollar mark on Sunday, making it the highest grossing film in studio Sony's history and the most successful Bond movie ever.
It joins Avengers: Assemble and The Dark Knight Rises in reaching that figure in global ticket sales this year.
Directed by Sam Mendes, 007's 23rd outing also starred Javier Bardem, Dame Judi Dench and Ralph Fiennes.
Sony vice chairman Jeff Blake said: "To see a film connect with audiences is always gratifying, but the success of this film is nothing short of extraordinary.
"After 50 years of entertaining audiences all over the world, Skyfall is the most successful James Bond film of all time."
