Reds’ rivals make mistake to leave big lead intact

KNUTSFORD’S position at the Cheshire League summit improved without kicking a ball at the weekend.

Reds’ trip to Linotype on Saturday was postponed because the hosts’ pitch was waterlogged, but their lead in Division One did not lessen after closest rivals Whaley Bridge lost by a single goal at Rylands.

Paul Schofield’s men will be confident of preserving their position when Grappenhall, beaten in eight of their nine league games to date, visit Manchester Road this Saturday, kick off 3pm.

Newcomers Egerton could not avoid defeat at in-form Runcorn Town reserves in Division Two, losing 5-2.

Ryan Barnhill and Daniel Clawson were on target for the Knutsford outfit, who sit 11th in the table with seven points from 10 matches.

They visit Moore this weekend.
