KNUTSFORD fell to the foot of the table after losing heavily at section newcomers Trentham in South Lancashire & Cheshire Division Three at the weekend.
Blues went down 61-3, leaving them sharing last place in the standings with neighbours Holmes Chapel after four successive defeats.
Chapel’s latest loss was at improving Capenhurst, conceding two tries in each half on their way to a 29-0 reverse.
The visitors struggled to find a rhythm in the second period, although coach Rick Clark preferred a positive outlook afterwards.
He said: “Our younger players did well and the half-back partnership is a promising one.”
Holmes Chapel’s second string came from behind to record their first win in the North West Intermediate League at the expense of Didsbury Toc-H fourths.
The hosts’ driving pack was a catalyst for victory, Jim Moss touching down twice with Joe Maddock adding a conversion.
South Lancashire & Cheshire Division Three, this Saturday (3pm) inc: Holmes Chapel v Congleton; Knutsford v Capenhurst. North West Intermediate League Division Five South: Congleton 2nds v Holmes Chapel 2nds.
