History made in Knutsford and District Amateur Snooker League

TWO men scored more than 100 points in a frame with the same cue as Mobberley made history in the Knutsford and District Amateur League.

Mark Newall totalled 107 in his head-to-head as the title favourites whitewashed Mere A, then handed it to teammate Steve Bond to rack up 104.

“Steve did not have a cue so had to use Mark’s,” said league secretary Tony Crompton.

“It means the same cue had two tons in the same match.”

Crompton himself amassed 108 point as Mobberley became only the second side in the competition’s history to have three men make it past 100 in a single match.

Their aggregate win – 434 points better than their opponents – is the best yet while Mere making 103 is the smallest collective total to date.

In Division Two, Mobberley C recorded the first whitewash at the expense of Mere C while Knutsford Cons B lost heavily to Shaw Heath B.

Royal London edged Knutsford Cons A by the odd frame.

Week Two, Division One: Mere A 0 Mobberley A 7; Mobberley B 0 Brook Street 7; Morley 5 Tatton 2; Shaw Heath A 6 Wilmslow Cons A 1. Division Two: Knutsford Cons B 1 Shaw Heath B 6; Mobberley C 7 Mere C 0; Royal London 4 Knutsford Cons A 3; Wilmslow RBL 5 Mere B 2.
