Club opens its doors for cup
10:39am Monday 2nd July 2012 in Sport
JUNIORS from Knutsford Tennis Club starred on their own court in the North East Cheshire Lawn Tennis League one-day tournament.
A 40-strong field competed for honours in three age groups at Mereheath Lane, with Knutsford members contesting the finals in each.
Philip Benson and Andrew Phillips won the U18s boys’ doubles, a feat matches by Emma Whalley and Emily Woods in the girls’ open age competition.
James Clewlow and Mark Munroe were victors in the U15s boys’ doubles category, while Josh Dally and James Woods did the same in the U12s boys’ class.
An open day at the club on Saturday has been declared a success by members.
“The rain did not deter an enthusiastic response,” said club tennis taster and what the club can offer.”
For further details about playing at Knutsford, call coach Mark Airey on 07787 510702.
