KNUTSFORD Tennis Club junior Robert Read was a winner on his debut at a county competition in Warrington last week.
He won each of his three round-robin encounters at Culcheth to top the final table in the U8s mixed singles category at the Cheshire Lawn Tennis Association (LTA)-backed event.
He is part of Knutsford’s youngest team along with Josh Jackson, Remi Livesey and William Young this summer, an U8s quartet competing in the AEGON Team Tennis Cheshire Division One.
Meanwhile James Clewlow emerged victorious from the Mereheath Lane club’s HSBC Road to Wimbledon qualifier, defeating George Keeble 6-3, 6-0 in the U14s boys’ final.
Summer Law took the honours ahead of Lilly Ann Hulse in the U14s girls’ competition.
