PAUL Schofield has tipped his young players to stay on course for a top six finish this season.
The Knutsford football club first team manager, who took over from predecessor Scott Hardie only days before the start of the current campaign, says he is pleased with their progress.
“I’m happy,” he said.
“It’s been a bit of a mixed bag in terms of results but then that’s exactly what I expected.
“I came into the job a bit blind because as a manager I haven’t been in charge of a team in the Cheshire League before.
“Most of the players are new to this level too, so they have had to learn as they go along too.”
Reds finished penultimate bottom of Cheshire League Division One last season, only escaping relegation to the second tier when another team resigned from the competition.
They travel to Crosfields/Rylands on Saturday, kick off 2.15pm, occupying sixth place.
