KNUTSFORD’S stopover at the table’s summit was a brief one after they suffered a five-wicket defeat at home to Wistaston.
They were knocked over for 73 after winning the toss at Mereheath Lane, where only Muhsin Ali (38) and opener Muhammad Arslan (11) put double-digit scores in the book.
That duo took the home team to 45-1 before nine wickets fell for just 28 runs.
Captain Adeel Bhatti (4-26) made inroads into the visitors’ top-order, but Knutsford’s bowlers had too small a total to defend and Josh Allwood (25no) steered Wistaston to victory at 74-5.
Knutsford hope to recover at the first attempt when they visit Bowdon Vale on Saturday.
The seconds went down by eight wickets at Warrington thirds, where in-form Raghu Bhaskar contributed 44 runs to a total of 118 after Knutsford had won the toss.
Mohammad Alam (76no) did the bulk of the work as the home team cruised to 120-2.
