TOFT followed an opening-day success in the Cheshire County League win another when beat Bramhall by seven wickets last weekend.

It means they have maximum points under new captain Jimmy Lomas.

He managed his bowling attack skilfully last Saturday to dismiss the visitors for 152 after they won the toss.

That decision appeared to be the right one when openers Ashley West (45) and Adam Wilde put on 67 for the first wicket before Tom Forster (3-48) broke through.

It proved to be a turning point, and the Knutsford outfit assumed control after danger-man Iftikhar Naseer (9) was caught on the boundary by Sam Hatcher off Rob Jones (5-36).

Lomas chipped in too with 2-29.

Toft looked secure in reply, reaching their target in the 44th over.

Ed Stubbs (59no) made the most of a promotion up the order, while Forster (32) and Henry Hughes (23no) also contributed as the home team closed on 153-3.

They visit Disbury on Saturday.

Toft’s bid to win the Cheshire Cup this season is over already following a heavy 71-run reverse against lower-ranked Macclesfield.

The Knutsford outfit will have felt confident about their chances of clinching a date with Oulton Park in the second round after knocking over their guests for 126.

James Scott (3-12), James Drummond (3-30), Pete Talbot (2-26) and Andrew Jackson (2-24) shared the wickets.

However Toft collapsed to 55 all out in a reply that included five ducks and only two players – Henry Hughes (11) and Jackson (24) able to say they reached double-figures.

Chris France (5-5) and Otis Palmes (4-18) did the damage.
